Over 10,000 people attended the Great Harwood Show on Monday May 30th making this a record-breaking year.

The fine weather played its part but the reputation of this great agricultural show is so good that it is always well attended even on rainy days. From start to finish I was impressed with the way everything was organised, from the car parking facilities to the minutae of every single event. Everyone knew their job and did it wonderfully well.

A lot of credit must go to the event organiser for the past forty years, Geoffrey Hanson and the people of Hyndburn for their continued support. It is also heartening to see in this day and age a public event that goes from strength to strength.

Over the next couple of pages you will see pictures from the event which included sheep hurdling fences with toy jockeys on their backs, tug-of war, weightlifting, cattle and horse shows, a dog show and a wonderful police dogs demonstration.
