When Mick Brome decided to turn his house and garden into a Christmas Tableau last year and invite the people of Accrington to attend the switch-on little did he know how big the spectacle would become. Not only did he get Reece Bibby to perform and raise an amazing amount for North West Air Ambulance, he started what looks like being an annual event.
On December 1st this year we were treated to a bigger and better event. This time the charity was Macmillan Cancer Care. There was an official switch-on at 7 p.m. Not only did they have a DJ, but Hyndburn Council loaned them ten log cabins to create a Christmas Market and house various stalls.
The crowd would have made local league teams envious as hundreds attended and the carnival atmosphere they created was wonderful.
The Fire Brigade even came along to the delight of children who got to see the flashing lights and hear the sirens at close quarters. Others households decked out their gardens and turned the close into a Winter Wonderland.
Pies were also provided by Clayton Park Bakery at the last minute so no-one went hungry.
The result was a spectacular evening full of Christmas cheer. Well done to Mick and all who helped in this great event.
